Thick Brown Paper Block Bottom Bags

W.F.Denny stock a range of five sizes of brown SOS style paper bags.

These thick brown paper bags are used for the sale of oats and grains for human consumption, birdseed and dog biscuits for the retail pet sector and for the sale and storage of flower bulbs and corns.

The bags vary from 50-70gsm in thickness and when filled with stock have a flat base for easy display. The paper allows the food to breath and helps prevent flower bulbs from rotting.

Packed and sold in 250’s, these bags can be composted or recycled with your paper waste.

Diamond Design Printed Paper Bags

W.F.Denny supply a range of five sizes of diamond-patterned bags. The bags are designed for the gift and card shop market. The bags are randomly patterned with a diamond coloured motif. The paper is bleached kraft at around 38gsm.

Please note the bags are sold as a size, the actual pattern will vary according to what print colours are in stock at the point of dispatch.

Brown Kraft Bags

W.F.Denny stock a range of nine sizes of standard brown kraft bags ranging from 7”x7” to 19”x21”.

Brown kraft bags were once the main type of wrapping bag for the green grocery sector of retail trade. The larger sizes above 12”x12” were mainly used in the retail cloths sector.

To a large extent, brown paper bags have been replaced in retail green grocery by plastic bags on a roll. This is down to price and ease of storage of rolls over paper. Poly bags also prevent fruit and veg falling out and getting damaged but paper bags are better for storing fruit and veg as they prevent sweating.

Brown kraft bags tend to be around 28gsm on smaller sizes rising to 36gsm on thicker sizes. This product is food safe and is easily composted or recycled.

White Sulphite Paper Bags

W.F.Denny stock a wide range of white sulphite paper food bags, which are sold by the 1,000 and can be recycled with paper products.

The bags are used in bakeries and sandwich shops, and range in size from 5” to 12” square for biscuits and pastries, and gusseted ones are available for baguettes and Paninis. The bags are not suitable for fatty products or soft bread rolls.

The paper used for the bags is around 30grams per square metre (gsm) in thickness but for printed bags a slightly thicker grade of paper is used, usually around 34gsm-bleached kraft.

Microwave Containers

W.F.Denny stock a small range of the most popular microwave food containers, made from polypropylene. Once used, they can be recycled with plastic waste.

Commonly used in kitchens and take-away’s are the W2 (500ml) and W6 (650ml). These containers are ideal for rice or pasta dishes. They will stand boiling hot food and can be used to reheat foods.

8oz and 12oz lidded microwave tubs are often used for soups and casseroles. Again they will take very hot food or can be used to reheat food.

Both types of containers can be frozen from cold but the containers become brittle. To re-open the containers from frozen it is best to allow the containers and contents to reach room temperature.

Lay flat Tubing

W.F.Denny stock a wide range of lay flat tubing, Lay flat tubing is available in two thicknesses. 200 gauge (50mic), and 400 gauge (100mic). The film is clear but lacks the clarity of display film.

Made with a proportion of recycled film, this film is to be used for wrapping non-food items and is not certified food safe.

As a guide, the 200 gauge rolls are 420metres long and the 400 gauge is 210 metres long.

Lay-flat tubing is used to wrap irregular lengths or small run items without the need to hold thousands of bespoke bags for each item. To use lay-flat tubing, calculate the width and the height of your package so you can select the most suitable width. Cut the film to the required length and then either tape ends closed or seal with an electric induction bar sealer.

Food Handling Gloves

W.F.Denny stock a range of 2 types of food handling gloves. The first type is a simple clear polythene gloves sold only in size large. This glove is intended to be easy to slip on or off whilst handling one product. It is not suitable for washing or for contact with concentrated cleaning materials.

The other type of glove is a blue latex disposable glove available in sizes small, medium and large. This glove is suitable for hand washing between handling different food items and can be worn for a full work shift. These gloves have a powder lining.

Look Oven Bags

W.F.Denny sell a range of 3 sizes of oven-able clear film (P.E.T) cooking bags. The sizes are as follows:
25cmx38cm (8 pack) suitable for chicken, meat portions and vegetables.
35cmx43cm (5 pack) suitable for large chicken, meat joints ect.
45cmx55cm (2 pack) suitable for turkey, hams or large joints of meat.

The food cooked in the bags can be heated in either a gas or electric oven or can be micro-waved. The bags keep the food moist and retain the cooking juices for use in sauces or gravy.

Clear Polypropylene Bags

W.F.Denny stock a range of clear polypropylene (PP) bags (supplied in boxes of 2,000) for the bakery and sandwich bar trade. The bags offer a crystal clear appearance that polythene bags cannot match. For this reason P.P is often used as a food over wrap or bag.

The bags can be sealed with an induction heat sealer (cost from around £75.00) to give an airtight seal that helps lengthen the shelf life of bakery/sandwich products.

P.P has a poor puncture resistance and is not a suitable replacement for polythene in most non-food applications.

Foil Take-Away Containers

W.F.Denny stock the two most popular aluminium foil take away containers.

Known in the catering trade as No2 and No6 foils they are found in most takeaways. Both sizes can be bought with or without a foil lined, oven-able board lid.

The No2 foil has a capacity of about 500ml and the No6 has a capacity of around 650ml. These containers are suitable for boiling hot food and can be used as a cooking container in gas, electric or steam ovens.

Once used the containers can be recycled with aluminium cans.
